Treatment of Rosacea
Rosacea or redness on the face is a chronic inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands that affects the skin of the face in adults, and most often occurs in women. Rosacea can appear on all skin types, more often in people with fair skin and more excessive work of the sebaceous glands.
The disease is very persistent and can last for years, in dermatology rosacea is considered a skin condition.
Clinically, it most often appears on the cheeks in the form of diffuse redness, capillaries or acne.
There are four types of rosacea:
The first type is erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, which is characterized by bursts of redness, permanent redness, and ruptured capillaries.

Another type is papulopustular rosacea, in which, in addition to the previous appearance, symptoms of undefined pimples appear, with or without pus content.
The third type is rhinophyma, which is characteristic of men. What characterizes it, in addition to all the previously listed complaints, is the moment of appearance and enlargement of sebaceous glands, due to which the skin of the face gets an uneven surface with a significant enlargement of the nose.
The fourth type is ocular rosacea, which affects the eyes. Clinically, it resembles conjunctivitis, it may contain all the previously mentioned characteristics and may be localized only on the eyes.
Ways to treat rosacea are as follows:
● Local (creams and lotions with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory substances or laser),
● Systemic (oral antibiotic therapy or, in severe cases, corticosteroid therapy),
● Combined.
We emphasize that rosacea can be kept under control, the treatment is individual and we draw attention to the fact that the most important thing is to consult a doctor of dermatology and follow all treatment advice.
