Incision of a Bartholin’s gland abscess
Bartholin’s gland is a pair gland, left and right, and it secretes secretions at the entrance to the vagina. Sometimes due to infection, the opening of the duct of the Bartholin’s gland is closed and inflammation can occur, which is treated with antibiotics. If a purulent collection is formed, it is necessary to make a surgical incision and remove the purulent collection, after which drainage is placed to drain the contents.
Apart from infections, there may be cysts of the Bartholin’s glands, which do not need to be removed if they do not cause problems and are not large. Otherwise different surgical procedures can be performed for the cyst removal.
